Jake ‘the Snake’ Allen gets new mask for Blues

With the new season rapidly approaching, NHL goaltenders have started rolling out their new lids for the year – and St. Louis Blues starter Jake Allen, fresh off a new long-term extension inked this summer, is no exception to the rule. Jason Livery of Jason Livery’s Head Strong Grafx collaborated once again with the netminder to produce a new mask design for his upcoming season, which takes Allen’s “Jake the Snake” nickname and brings it to the front and center while also paying tribute to the team’s 50th anniversary: “We wanted to do something simple yet fun,” Livery told InGoal....

The team was reportedly close to $4 million apart from Mrazek over two years in terms of asking price ahead of the neutral-party negotiations, which were set to begin this week. Somehow, though, the team and Mrazek came to terms in advance. It was announced on Wednesday Mrazek inked a two-year extension with Detroit, worth a collective $8 million. The deal will pay out $3.85 million the first season, then $4.15 million the following year; once it has expired, the netminder will still...
