Shots on Goal: Goalie Photos-Adirondack Phantoms Carter Hutton vs Manchester Monarchs Jeff Zatkoff

The Manchester Monarchs picked up two points with a 4-3 win over the Adirondacks Phantoms and their newest goalie Carter Hutton. The Monarchs remain in third place in the Atlantic Division with 85 points (38-26-3-6). Adirondack (31-36-3-4) is in sixth place in the East Division with 69 points.

Carter Hutton

The newly signed Carter Hutton has had a busy week and a half since becoming a Pantom. This was was Hutton’s second loss in four games with Adirondack (1-2-1). Hutton stopped 36 of 40 shots on the night. As can be seen in the photos, Hutton is still wearing his UMass Lowell gear. I’ll have more info on Carter’s stellar career with the River Hawks later in the week along with his mask pictures.

Jeff Zatkoff

Zatkoff  (10-9-0) notched his 10th win of the season for the Monarchs stopping 29 of 32 shots on goal. It look as if Zatkoff may be getting some more playing time as the LA Kings have once again recalled Jonathan Bernier on an emergency basis.

Bernier has been called up to back up Jonathan Quick as Erik Ersberg is out with a strained back.  Bernier is scheduled to start Tuesday when the Kings face the Nashville Predators.

Shots on Goal: Goalie Mask Photos-Providence Bruins

Providence Bruins Goalie Kevin Regan

Every now and then I get the opportunity to chat with a goalie while shooting at the Tsongas Arena, home of the Lowell Devils. The benches are a little small so once in a while the backup goalie will sit over in the tunnel where I shoot from.

This particular night P-Bruins goalie Kevin Regan was sitting with all of us in the corner.

Not only did Kevin answer a few questions from me about his mask but he also made time for the kids at the game before each period. He was signing everything from game tickets to an arm cast. (See photo below)

Kevin’s mask comes from from artist Doug Wager at Weasel Head Custom Designs. The artwork is a historic Boston/Boston Bruins theme. Doug also painted Kevin’s college mask when he was between the pipes for the UNH Wildcats.

Providence Bruins Goalie Dany Sabourin

Sabourin has updated his mask since the last time I shot a P-Bruins game. Artist Ray Bishop of Bishop Custom Designs has created a beautiful Bruins themed mask for Dany with the P-Bruins logo on one side and the Boston Bruins logo on the other.

After 49 games this season, Sabourin is 25-23-0 with a GAA of  2.67 and 3 shutouts.

NHL Goalie Photography: Introducing Brittany Wouts

Brittany Wouts is a student of photography in the professional photo-imaging program at Langara College in Vancouver. She is in the last few weeks of her formal education and is hoping to be a sports photographer in the future. We thought we could fast-track that dream, so now Brittany is a staff photographer for inGoal Magazine. Well, I suppose technically Brittany was hoping to become a professional photographer and for this gig she’s volunteering her skills like the rest of us. Let’s hope someone sees her talent soon and scoops Brittany up!

She got her first opportunity to shoot NHL games on a practicum with her practicum sponsor Jeff Vinnick, and now has a photographer’s pass of her own, so we’ll be treated to her great work as long as the Canucks go in the playoffs this year.

Here are a few examples of Brittany’s goaltender photography. We look forward to bringing you more in the near future! Meanwhile drop by Brittany’s web site and have a look around.
