Mike McKenna shows off some sweet skills in this video – looks like he wants a shot in the shootout or perhaps some powerplay time when he’s not in goal for the Albany Devils.

The Canucks moved into the second round with another third period comeback last night. Vancouver’s goalie and captain Roberto Luongo had his best game of the playoffs by far and the exclamation point was this on the back spin-o-rama glove save – if he hadn’t held strong at that point the momentum of the game could easily have taken LA to victory and both teams back to Vancouver for game seven.

Twitter went nuts on Saturday when Chicago goalie Antti Niemi took the idea of robbing Nashville shooters to a new level, losing the puck in his gear and prompting the officials to conduct an extended on-ice search. The length of time it took before the puck was finally located was remarkable, but in this day of oversized and loose fitting gear it really shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise!

The NHL network released their “saves of the season” – some of the most remarkable and acrobatic saves by the best goalies in the business.

Favs anyone? Not sure the guys recovering from bonehead puck handling should count…but they sure make for some great recoveries.
