Check Out Roberto Luongo’s New Mask and CCM Premier II Setup

It’s been a big week for goaltenders revealing their new equipment setups! With Mike Smith, Eddie Lack, and Marc-Andre Fleury already teasing fans with new looks, Florida’s Roberto Luongo has decided to join the mix.

Posting from his official Instagram account, Luongo is seen sporting a brand new set of CCM Premier II’s – with a simple, yet attractive white/gold/navy blue design:

Luongo has been wearing Reebok/CCM Premier equipment since the design was purchased from Koho. He is one of their marquee goaltenders, despite missing a large chunk of time due to injuries in recent years.

The 38-year-old Luongo is the oldest goaltender in the league, with the 37-year-old Ryan Miller following closely behind. He has battled hip issues on-and-off since having surgery last offseason, but all reports claim that he is healthy and ready to go for 2017-18.

A closer look at Luongo’s new mask was also posted on the @CCMGoalie Twitter account:

Working with Stephane Bergeron of GriffAirbrush once again, the new mask features a faded white design with the Panthers secondary logo on the right side, and their original logo on the left side. Their new primary logo is prominent on the middle of the mask in familiar gold trim that Luongo has used on his masks in recent years.

New setup designs will keep trickling in as the season comes closer. We’ll be sure to post as many as we can to keep you in the loop!

I like the clean lines and design, especially the gold.

Scary close call for

Scary close call for Winnipeg Jets Connor Hellebuyck as teammate’s stick blade got through his cage + cut him near eye; interestingly amid the debate about cat-eye cages, which are banned in Canada, the blade actually appears to go in under the lower bar of the cat-eye opening. Frankly it’s hard to see why that gap, which does nothing to help vision, needs to be big enough for a blade to get through, as unlikely as this incident might be.
