Regulation changes leave Canada’s top 3 female goaltenders competing for the No. 1 spot.
The International Ice Hockey Federation now allows women’s teams to carry three regular goaltenders which leaves Kim St. Pierre, Charline Labonte, and Shannon Szabados competing to be the top goalie for Team Canada at both the World Hockey Championship and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

U.S. and Canadian goalies earn shutouts for their teams at the World Women’s preliminary rounds in Finland.
With both teams posting shutouts in their World Women’s preliminary round, Canada and the USA are the leaders in their preliminary round groups. Kim St. Pierre was in net for Canada while Molly Schaus got the win for the USA.

Yale Sophmore invited to top USA goaltending camp
Yale goaltender Jackee Snikeris has been invited to USA Hockey’s Warren Strelow Goaltending Camp as one of the top 12 female goalies in the United States. Snikeris finished fourth in the NCAA with a save percentage of .934. Also invited to the camp are Team USA goalies Jesse Vetter, Molly Schaus, and Megan Van Beusekom.

Women really can do it all!
A position as goaltender for both Canada’s national ringette and inline hockey teams should be enough to keep Keely Brown pretty busy but she is also the goalie for the semi-professional Edmonton Chimos ice hockey team and maintainis a full-time job as in-house lawyer for the Edmonton Oilers.

Erika Thunder plays for Balmoral Hall Blazers in the Junior Womens Hockey League. She has won a Minnesota State Championship as well as a City of Winnipeg Championship. Got Balmoral in to the Championship game last year in the JWHL and then finished the last half of the championship game with a 1-1 tie agianst NAHA who won 5-1. Faced NAHA agian in the Challenge cup a week later and tied them agian 1-1 after facing 42 shots. Won the International cup in Blaine for the second year in a row as well as the subway tournament in Winnipeg this summer. Has a total of 10 gold metals, 7 silver, and 6 bronze. Plays the Bill Howard system of goaltending and has the canny ability of taking her game to the next level in playoffs. Consistancy and focused with great athletic and acobatic skills. Never gives up and always finds a way to make the play. Contols her rebounds and shakes off bad goals.
