Vaughn CHL Goalie of Week: Jackets’ Prospect Dansk

Vaughn Hockey LogoColumbus Blue Jackets prospect Oscar Dansk of the Erie Otters is the Vaughn Canadian Hockey League Goaltender of the Week after posting a perfect 3-0-0-0 record that included two shutouts, a goals-against-average of 0.39 and a save percentage of .987.

Dansk, a two-time winner of the award this season, allowed just one goal on 77 shots and posted back-to-back shutout victories as the Ontario Hockey League’s first-place Otters improved to 34-7-2-0.

It is the second time Dansk has posted consecutive shutouts. He now leads the OHL with six following a 31-save, Second Star performance in a 4-0 win over the Owen Sound Attack on Friday, and a 26-save performance on Sunday in a 9-0 win over the Windsor Spitfires.  Dansk opened the week stopping 19 of 20 shots in relief, playing the last half of a 6-5 win over the Barrie Colts on Thursday night.

Dansk, 19, is coming off a silver medal and Top Goaltender honours at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship in his native Sweden.  Playing in his second OHL season with the Otters, Dansk was selected by the Blue Jackets in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft and leads the OHL with a goals-against-average of 1.97 and save percentage of .928 while carrying a 19-3-1-0 record.

Also considered for the award this week was Winnipeg Jets prospect Eric Comrie of the Tri-City Americans who posted a 2-0-0-0 record and earned First Star honours twice with a goals-against-average of 1.45 and save percentage of .953, while past winner Philippe Cadorette of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar also won two games including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .989.
