Gary Warwick, Mask Maker – Interview Tomorrow

by David Hutchison

Gary Warwick Goalie Mask MakerToday I had a great chat with Gary Warwick, one of the most experienced builder of custom masks in the business. One of the few guys who still works from a mold of the goalie’s head, Gary builds masks for Ryan Miller, Evgeni Nabokov, Marty Turco and many, many more. In fact, it looks like I’ll be ordering one myself! – that’ll be an interesting story I’ll document when it happens.

Gary’s interest in top technologies is exciting – from titanium cages to a sound dampening membrane that is used in submarines – so I am really looking forward to this chat.

As always, here’s my call out to readers – what should I ask Gary? Are you curious about the technique of mask building? The personalities he has worked with? I’m opening it wide for our readers and will ask Gary a few of your questions tomorrow. Email me or leave a comment below.

Check out Gary’s site for more information.

if it is not too late it would be interesting on how he finds out what materials to put in his masks. How did he find out aramid was better than carbon fiber, how does he stay on the cutting edge of the new materials that are coming out? Hearsay, research and development, experimentation etc…

It’s not too late, I’ll add it in. I’ve had to delay the interview by a day but look forward to chatting with him in the morning.
