What’s that on Cujo’s and Mason’s Sticks? – BladeTape for Goalies – Interview
Interview with the makers of BladeTape
When I first saw some minor hockey kids using bladetape I thought it was an interesting idea that might have some decent applications and would definately be that rare hockey item that parents could afford as a small gift for their kids.
When I noticed Cujo using BladeTape though, the lightbulb went on! Of course, it may well have practical uses, but we goalies love our gear and this is a whole new way to express yourself and put a little more design into your gear – and probably for a lot less than the $600-$1400 is costs for a new custom paint job on your mask.
Nick Dube is the resident goalie – and more importantly the Director, Operations & Business Development- at BladeTape and he was kind enough to provide me with the photographs in this article and take the time to chat a bit about BladeTape for goalies.
Have a listen and learn all about this exciting new product.
For more information visit the BladeTape web site where you can buy it at their online store or check it out at a local hockey retailer. If you have tried it – we’d love to hear from you, as I’m sure Nick would, so please leave a comment below.

I’ve used Blade Tape for 2 years now and there is no going back. Everyone who I know that has tried it has stuck with it once they got used to the difference between blade tape and regular cloth tape.
It grips the puck so well that I can scoop the puck onto the blade of my stick with one hand. I also find that it helps to deaden the kickback when catching a hard pass with a composite blade.
Great product and fantastic company!
I’ve used blade tape for a little over a year now… I love the stuff. I’ve had the same one on for over 6 months now and it’s holding strong.
It really helps control the puck. I’ll never go back to plain tape again.
I wish they could do one for each of the NHL teams.
Control of the puck is so important in todays game. If this product is that great get it in the stores quicker. I haven’t seen it anywhere yet. Except here of course.
I really like the idea of bladetape. it also looks really cool. I agree with james I think they should do one for every team.
Hey Dave, if its okay to let your readers/fans of BladeTape know, we ran an interview with BladeTape’s President, Richard Findlay back in May 2010 – here is the direct link if anyone is interested (copy & paste into your browser):
