Cedrick Desjardins Tampa Bay Lightning 2010-2011 Mask
One of the most surprising moves of the offseason came a bit under the radar , when Montreal traded Cedrick Desjardins to Tampa for Karri Ramo. A promising young goaltender who was pushing hard for NHL time – he was an AHL all star last season going 29-9-2 – was traded for a KHL goalie who went 21-17-4. Maybe Montreal think they see something here, but it looks like they traded the future for short-term security. Will Ramo even see any NHL time this year? Isn’t Alex Auld a very capable #2? You get the feeling Montreal were worried that Cedrick, if he got any NHL time, might create yet another controversy. Perhaps as much as anything he was sent packing to assure Carey Price that he is the future – the only future – in the Montreal net.
David Leroux, who is one of the most talented artists out there, sent along shots of the Tampa mask he just finished for Cedrick. It’s another remarkable job by David, one that deserves to see time in NHL rinks this season.

Honestly, I think hes one of, if not the best Mask Artist out there. I know many think Daveart is, and I really like his stuff, but I think this mask right here is better than some previous Daveart work. None of David’s masks look cheesy, or overly detailed, they just look great!
That is some bada** artwork! I especially like the hidden ghoul on the right side.
David is the best in the biz for sure… more NHL clubs need to start using him… he is the future.
This one is by far the best of the new Lightning masks.
The Storm one cannot even come close to how awesome this one is. Great work.
My comment is about the intro to the mask article: I am so peeved that Montreal traded away Desjardins! How stupid! the only thing notable about Kari Raamo is his brain bucket helmet. Desjardins has won at every level Memorical Cup, ECHL champion, AHL champion- what else does he have to do??
The scene on the right side is taken from Iron Maiden’s “Brave New World” album cover. Outstanding choice!!!
Best Lightning mask ever.. A shame we’re not seeing the guy in action.. Real glad we got rid of Ramo.
Cedric started for Tampa last night and (DANG IT!) beat Montreal. The Habs are on a heck of downturn.
I do have a query – I know Montreal traded him, but is he related to (son?) Eric Desjardins, hero of game 2 in the finals in 1993?
