Cedrick Desjardins Montreal Canadiens Mask Helmet

Desjardins’ helmet was designed and painted by Montreal Artist David Leroux

Cedrick Desjardins returned to his original NHL team this summer, signing a two-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens, and given the long, proud history of the original-6 franchise it’s easy to understand why he went old-school with his new mask.

Desjardins’ new helmet design is very much a return to the graphical designs that once were the norm on NHL helmets. Created by Montreal artist David Leroux who is known for his bold designs, you can imagine this artwork on a full-face Fibreglass mask in the 70′s – proudly displaying the famous logo on both sides and the top.

Desjardins is hoping a return to Montreal will also mean a return to health. A return to form isn’t necessary, Desjardins posted a team-record .932 save percentage for Lake Erie in the AHL last season despite only 32 games because of a shoulder injury.

Classic simple lines that can be appreciated from a distance. Well done.

I’m thrilled the NHL is not playing. We are going to see some great goaltenders here in Rochester.
