Ilya Bryzgalov’s Winter Classic Mask
InGoal has been proud to present early looks at Henrik Lundqvist and Martin Biron’s winter classic masks recently. With both Ranger goalies covered, today Drummond Custom Airbrush (who also created the art on one of Bryz’ regular masks) is sharing these photos with InGoal readers.
The mask is a tribute to Philadelphia sports in general, the Spectrum and Veterans Stadium. Citizens Bank Park, the venue for this year’s Winter Classic, was built to replace Veterans stadium, and of course the Spectrum, which also was home to the Sixers, was built when the Flyers came into the NHL. The players featured are Reggie White (Eagles) Julius Erving (Sixers), Mike Schmidt (Phillies), and Bobby Clarke (Flyers) along with the Philly Phanatic. The HK patch is for the late, great Harry Kallus. The saying “Good night and Good Hockey” was a famous phrase used by the great Gene Hart before he passed away.
Thanks to Sean and Franny of Drummond Custom Airbrush for sharing their great work through InGoal Magazine.

Friggin UGLY!
It would be an understatement to say Lundy`s mask is much better.
I agree. This mask is about as coherent as his play has been lately. Have any of these painters ever heard the expression “less is more?”
That is one ugly mask.
The mask is great in that it’s a tribute to the city of Philadelphia is it’s sports icons. I’d agree with the above if it were his everyday mask.
However, considering that this is a one shot deal and the mask is most likely going to get auctioned off at the Flyer’s Wives Carnival, I think it’s a great piece.
Agreed! Completely!!
There’s too many things on in lid. I don’t like it!
In fact, I don’t really like Bryz’s other masks…
I’m looking forward to see Bobz having a great mask, and a great game haha!
This mask is amazing. The man realizes he is now playing in the best sports town in the US and is paying homage to all its legends that came before him.
Terrific how tribute is paid to the greats of Philly’s past. Of course there is a lot going on-how else would he pay tribute to the 4 most recognizable players of each organization?
