Jonathan Bernier’s New Retro Kings Mask

Jonathan Bernier’s New Retro Kings Mask

Jonathan Bernier will be wearing this fantastic retro mask when the Kings don their purple retro-style third jerseys this season. This latest Bernier lid is another step above what artist Dave Gunnarsson created for him to wear last season, taking a similar theme and adding a fantastic tribute to legendary Kings net minder Rogie Vachon.

Gannarsson writes:

When you look on the mask from a distance it is a very old school design, crisp and clean. And when you come closer you discover a new world of details that tie the whole together. It also connects with Jonathan´s previous LA masks. On one side I created an artwork with Vachon, I painted him in action together with his old school hockey card, and his signature and number. You also find details from Jonathan´s earlier masks, and as usual lots and lots of details and 3-D effects. I love to put a lot of thought into every detail.

About The Author

David is one of the founders of InGoal Magazine which he began in 2009. Of course he finds time for some goaltending of his own as well, and despite his age, clings desperately to the idea that some NHL team will call him to play for them - though in his mid-forties (OK, late 40s) it'll likely be for a practice when everyone else on their depth chart has the flu and the shooter tutor has gone in for repairs.

  3. This mask is in a word….AWESOME! It is however a shame whats going on with his current mask and the trademark issue. You would think that those that own the rights to the sign wouldn’t mind him having that on his mask. It’s not as if he is using it as a marketing tool to benefit himself. Just another sign of greed. Shame on you.
