Kipper’s New Mask

Flames Goalie Mikka Kiprusoff has a new mask design

UPDATE – Photos available now

On Haloween night Flames goalie debuted a new mask design, created by a new designer. Previous Kipper masks have been created by Todd Miska (check out our interview with Todd) and the masks made by Gary Warwick (listen to our interview with Gary, too). Last night we saw Kipper sporting a new lid, this one by David Arrigo, branded Bauer, although no word yet who actualy made the mask. I contacted David when I saw the new mask and he confirmed the design was his. It turns out it was as much of a surprise to him that Kipper wore it on the day he received it.

You can catch a glimpse of the mask in this video from the game – and David has promised to send us some shots in short order. We’ll get them up as soon as possible.

I wonder if Kipper will keep the flaming skulls if he moves on to another team?

Kipper has been and is a great goalie — but it is time for a better mask. This one just doesn’t do it for me.

It’s not all that different considering he still has the flaming skull thing going on. I wish I could tell what’s on the sides. Are those supposed to be from Calgary’s cityscape/skyline or something?
