Marc-Andre Fleury’s Winter Classic Mask

Marc-Andre Fleury’s Winter Classic Mask

Check out our roundup of all the Winter Classic masks this year.

Winter Classic Goalie Mask Fleury Pittsburgh

The Pens unveiled a new helmet for Marc-Andre Fleury yesterday that he’ll be wearing in the upcoming Winter Classic against the Washington Capitals. As with Fleury’s regular helmet, this one was painted by Stephane Bergeron of La Griffe Originale. The helmet features the simple yet bold graphics we have come to expect in a retro design with the nice touch of a retro styled logo that seems hand-drawn rather than a polished computer rendering.  The mask obviously is a tribute to former penguin Michel Dion whose mask is a classic in both graphic and form.

Anyone who saw the photos sent out by the Pens will notice one difference here – when Bergeron completed the helmet he had this stainless cage on it. After receiving it the Pens swapped it for the white cage it now has.

Of course he finds time for some goaltending of his own as well, and despite his age, clings desperately to the idea that some NHL team will call him to play for them - though in his mid-forties (OK, late 40s) it'll likely be for a practice when everyone else on their depth chart has the flu and the shooter tutor has gone in for repairs.
