Ondrej Pavelec wanted to pay tribute to the Czech goalkeeper legend Bohumil Modrý on his mask for the Olympics in Vancouver. David Gunnarsson of Daveart.com was his artist of choice and he created this mask with his usual attention to both design and detail. On one side David painted the goalie Modrý in action using a sepia look, to convey the old feeling. The white base lifts all the details.
On the other side of the mask David painted the Czech coat of arms with a tremendous detail work, 3-D look and metallic. On the chin the number was weaved in, and the checkered pattern taken from one of the birds on the coat of arms becomes a contrast-rich base. Around this you find the proud Czech flag on the chin as well as under the cage.

David Gunnarsson did a great job! Perfect!!
Great Mask! I really like how he incorporates team history and country pride. Not many did that. Very nice and very complex.
From a needleworker: Woven, not weaved.
