Rangers’ Hellberg Brings A Bit Of Home To New Mask

Hellberg mask leftNew York Rangers’ prospect Magnus Hellberg has introduced a little bit of home to The Big Apple.

Working with long time design partner David Gunnarsson of DaveArt, Hellberg’s new mask not only uses the classic Rangers colours, but also features Swedish cartoon character Peter-No-Tail.

“Magnus and I have been working together for many years.” Gunnarsson explained on his Facebook page. “Magnus is from Uppsala in Sweden, the same city as famous Swedish cat, the cute cartoon Peter-No-Tail. So on all of Magnus’ masks, Peter-No-Tail always pops up as a postcard from home.”

“And when Magnus signed with New York Rangers, of course Peter-No-Tail also moved to New York. And since it is New York, Peter-No-Tail wanted to fit in – so he dressed up to fit the city”

The simple red, white and blue stripes ensure a clean, classic look to the mask, with the Rangers classic logo and Statue of Liberty alternate bringing the design alive as you zoom in.

Acquired from Nashville last season for a 6th rd pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, 24-year old Hellberg is expected to feature heavily for the Rangers AHL affiliate, Hartford Wolf Pack, this season.
