Stephane Bergeron of La Griffe Originale has created Yann Danis mask for the 2011-2012 season. The 30-year old Danis spent last season with Khabarovsk of the KHL and signed this summer to give the Oilers and experienced number three behind Nikolai Khabibulin and Devan Dubnyk. While it’s unlikely he’ll see much NHL time Scott Reynolds of The Copper and Blue blog argues that in his limited NHL time, Danis has proven to be more than capable.

Yann Danis Edmonton Oilers Mask by Stephane Bergeron

Danis’ helmet is a tribute to past Oiler greats of course: Gretzky, Messier, the Oilers’ Cup winning seasons and both the chin and the full left side reserved for goaltender Grant Fuhr. We like the combination of detailed tribute images with the bold and simple graphic that is the Oilers logo.

This is a really cool mask, I love the elements with Messier, the Great One and Fuhr! If I ever play for the Oilers I’d like to have a Fuhr tribute, with his paint job on it. this is still really cool! Good call, Danis!

  2. Porelle says:

It’s a shame that the best looking masks belong to third or fourth string goalies that won’t see a lot of action. Love the tribute to former Oiler greats….The blue of the mask is quite dark (similar to their alternate jersey)….I would make the background in the regular blue

  3. Loving Fuhr on this one.. Mess and Gretz look good too. Very nice tribute to the Oil.

  4. William Ladd says:
