AHL Goalie News — Friday, Oct. 2

The AHL season starts tonight with only two games but all three Texas teams playing. Texas meets San Antonio, and Houston bookends its summer facing Manitoba, to whom they lost out of the playoffs in May.

Features

  • While the Manitoba Moose have some concerns about goal scoring, goaltending appears to be solid with Cory Schneider and Daren Machesney between the pipes. (Winnipeg Free Press)
  • From the OMGOuchScary File is Lowell Devils goalie Jeff Frazee getting sliced in the neck by a skate blade during a scrimmage on Tuesday. He’ll be fine but, yikes. Never want to see that. (Star-Ledger)
  • John Curry, assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from Pittsburgh’s camp, is out to prove he belongs in the NHL backing up Marc-Andre Fleury. (Citizens Voice)
  • An update on the goalie situation in Hershey, including a slightly injured Michal Neuvirth. (Stack the Pads)
  • Finally, Albany River Rats goalie Justin Peters is back in action and has the confidence of his team and his coaches on his side. (The Saratogian)
