AHL Goalie News — Saturday, Oct. 24
Features
- Norfolk rookie Dustin Tokarski appears to have already snagged the #1 spot on the Admirals goaltending depth chart from Riku Helenius. Impressive this early in his pro career. (St. Petersburg Times)
- Rich Hammond takes a look at Jonathan Bernier, who is tearing it up in the AHL and is part of a long overdue success in goalie development for the Kings. (LA Kings Insider)
Game Reports
- The aforementioned Bernier made 40 stops to earn the shutout for Manchester against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, his second this season. (Manchester Monarchs)
- San Antonio was blanked at home by Curtis Sanford and the Hamilton Bulldogs in a 3-0 loss. (Hamilton Scores)
From the Blogs
- Braden Holtby left an impression in Hershey before he was sent down to the ECHL: “The best goaltender I have seen for the Bears this season was hands down Braden Holtby. He seemed to want it more than [Michal Neuvirth] has so far. Not sure what it is but Neuvy seems a bit over confident maybe.” (Hershey Bears Hockey)
Transactions
Andrew Martin from IHL Bloomington got the call to back up Ben Bishop in Peoria. The flu has it the Rivermen hard, presumably including Hannu Toivonen. (Peoria Journal Star)
Manchester has signed Rick Laurendeau to a tryout. Gotta love when AHL teams have to sign rec league goalies to fill in in a pinch. (Manchester Monarchs)
Syracuse returned Dan Taylor to ECHL Gwinnett as Kevin Lalande has recovered from the flu. (Crunch Hockey Blog)

Where is the love for Amerks goalie Alexander Salak after he backstopped them to a 2-1 win on the road last night?
Well, there are just too many games to cover so I tend to draw the line at shutouts, unless I hear about (or see personally in Houston) something particularly noteworthy.
How excited are you to have Beckford-Tseu up though?
