AHL Goalie News — Tuesday, Nov. 17
Features
- Mark Dekanich is struggling in Milwaukee, while Chet Pickard has excelled in 2 of his 3 starts. Is it time to let the rookie see if he can carry the team? (Admirals Short Shifts)
- Don’t you love when a skater throws the pads on and gives goal a shot? LW Alexandre Picard did that at a recent Syracuse practice. Apparently, the consensus is that he should keep his day job. (Crunch Hockey Blog)
- Portland Rookie JP Lamoureux is the only goalie and the youngest in a family of hockey players, and is having a successful season as #2 to Jhonas Enroth. (New England Hockey Journal)
- Photos: Hopefully you didn’t miss IGM photographer extraordinaire Scott Slingsby‘s post with really beautiful photos from a Worcester Sharks and Lowell Devils game Friday night. (In Goal Mag)
- Houston Aeros goalie Barry Brust, who has only played a handful of games in 2009 due to a foot injury, was back in action during a rehab stint with ECHL Florida on Friday, in which the Everblades won in the shootout. My game report is at The Third Intermission.

Game Reports
- Expansion Texas Stars are #1 in the league due in large part to goaltending from Brent Krahn and Matt Climie that we knew would be good, but not THIS good. Krahn got his third shut out of the season on Sunday, the team’s fifth in 19 games, against San Antonio. (San Antonio Express News)
- Hartford rookie Chad Johnson is having a respectable pro start, notching his second straight shutout on Saturday versus Worcester. (Beyond the Blueshirts)

- David Shantz and his Abbotsford Heat blanked Peoria Friday night, 6-0. Shantz turned aside 27 shots but the Heat were already up by 2 before he even saw his first. (Surrey Leader)
- The Houston Aeros and Anton Khudobin were also on the good side of a 6-0 night in Lake Erie Friday where Khudobin stopped all 17 shots for the win. (Houston Chronicle)
- There must have been a full moon Friday, as Mike Brodeur and the Binghamton Senators shut out the Adirondack Phantoms 5-0. (Press & Sun-Bulletin)

All hail the poke check!
Where is the two pad stack?
Funny you should say that. The paper down in Florida did a q/a with Brusty and asked him what his proudest save was, it was a pad stack glove save. “Old school” he said. LOL Here’s the link. I can’t get the video to work in any browser on either of my computers… but it does have a transcript:
