  • Rookie goalie Michal Neuvirth earned his first career AHL shutout against the Binghamton Senators. (The Patriot News)
  • Grand Rapids Griffins G Jimmy Howard earned a franchise-leading 89th win, stopping a whopping 47 of 48 shots from the Norfolk Admirals. The Griffins clinched a playoff spot in a game overshadowed by referee Chris Cozzan being cut in the neck with a skate blade. (Grand Rapids Press)
  • Houston Aeros and Rockford IceHogs took Friday night’s battle, which ended regulation 2-2, went through overtime, and into a shootout that lasted more than 10 minutes and went 13 rounds. Aeros’ Anton Khudobin, who was recently called up from Florida of the ECHL, stopped 10 of 13 shots, but Rockford’s Antti Niemi bested him with 11 of 13 shots stopped. Houston Aeros and goalie Nolan Schaefer held Lyme Night to raise awareness about Lyme Disease, which Schaefer’s wife, Lisa, has suffered with for several years now. Fans were encouraged to wear lime green. Lime green tape was everywhere on players during warm-ups, including Nolan’s mummified stick. Alas, in all the lime madness, no free margaritas.

Atlanta Thrashers recalled G Dan Turple from the Chicago Wolves. His first NHL call-up, he’s filling in for an injured Kari Lehtonen. (Atlanta Thrashers)
