Abbotsford Heat goaltender Barry Brust is not a gamer so why does his new mask feature the Ryu and Ken from the old Street Fighter video game?
For the veteran goaltender it was just a play on his sometimes nickname.
“For some guys my nickname is The Ninja so I said i wanted a ninja throwing the flames Street Fighter style and they ran with it,” Brust said of the artists at HeadStrongGrafx.
“I let the artist do their thing and try to give them guidelines as far as colors. I knew I was going to have brown pads and I wanted it to flow and i think it came together really well.”
Enjoy these photos of Brust’s new mask, which debuted in a 3-0 shutout of the Toronto Marlies on Thursday night, as well as some shots of those vintage brown Vaughn pads and gloves, and be sure to check out more from HeadStrongGrafx, including the mask of fellow Abbotsford Heat stopper Danny Taylor, on their website, or follow them on Twitter at @headstronggrafx.
