Dov Grumet-Morris has a simple philosophy when it comes to his goaltending equipment.
The San Antonio Rampage stopper isn’t worried about a lot of custom options. He just wants something that works for his game – and then holds that shape and form so it keeps working over time.
So when asked about his Brian’s setup for this season, Grumet-Morris didn’t have a lot of answers, saying only that he relayed his sizing and pad preferences to their pro rep, Chris Joswiak, and didn’t worry or know too much about any custom options.
As it turns out, the entire 36+2 pad is a custom blend of the Pro Stock, Sub Zero and new G-NETik lines from Brian’s Custom Sports. Only the gloves are a stock Pro Stock option, according to Joswiak.
Grumet-Morris may not have known that, but he knows what he likes – and why he likes this set up.
“They’re very light and they hold their form very well, those are probably the two biggest things,” Grumet-Morris told InGoal Magazine during a recent post-game chat. “I like it pretty stiff. I don’t want it to change or shrink too much.”
The styling synonymous with Brian’s doesn’t hurt either.
“It’s clean and I think it looks kind of cool with those tiger stripes down the side,” Grumet-Morris said.
As you can see from the photos below, including some back-of-pad photos that show off the custom blend aspects like the Sub Zero knee, and some action shots from that recent game, it’s hard to argue with him:
