- Halak posts second straight win as Biron faces 43 shots. Montreal Gazette.
“Biron, who was the key player in 2007 when the Philadelphia Flyers eliminated the Canadiens in the second round of the playoffs, didn’t get much help from his teammates, who were outshot 43-22.”
“Jaroslav Halak posted his second consecutive win, but he didn’t have to work very hard in the first two periods when he might have made one tough save. His teammates made life easy for him as they dominated the play and outshot the visitors 30-12 after 40 minutes.”
- Brodeur Outduels Lundqvist to Win at the Garden New York Times
Was that a seated poke-check and a great glove?
“Martin Brodeur’s bid to tie Terry Sawchuk’s career shutout record fell short, but Brodeur was able to hold off a late Rangers attack, including a key save on Sean Avery, to give the Devils a victory.”

Forget the NHL, my beer league needs to stem the tide of crease crashers!
I almost got a finger or two on my blocker hand broken this week….
No kidding?!? We played our first round of playoffs this week and I got bowled over (no call) and whacked in the facemask (I was standing up and I’m 6′ tall; no call) all in the same game. High-sticking in our league 2-minute minor and a 10-minute misconduct.
