As we saw again in Friday’s games, the league has to do something to protect the keepers before one is lost to a serious injury.

• Thomas wins 11th straight game

Marc Savard scored twice and Tim Thomas stopped 26 shots to lead the Boston Bruins past the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

• As expected, French goaltender Fabrice Lhenry was the busiest player tonight, stopping over 40 shots in 6-2 loss to USA
