With all the talk in Toronto being the very early season controversy of Toskala vs. Gustavsson, there was an intriguing match-up of the young Swedish rookie vs. Pascal Leclaire – the latest goaltending saviour in Ottawa.
but Alfredson did get the best of him here on a Penalty shot:
Of course Toronto isn’t the only city in a panic over their goaltending. It seems that this is the season to worry about troubles in net. Sports Illustrated’s Michael Farber discusses why goaltending is one of the biggest stories to begin the season.
In Vancouver there is as much concern as anywhere, with Captain Roberto Luongo off to his usual early season struggles the situation is being magnified. Whether it is the 12 year contract, the Olympic year, or the hot start to the pre-season for some reason it’s as if this had never happened to Roberto before.
