Daveart makes another new twist on ‘Monster’ nickname fitting for Detroit

Monster Truck Goalie Mask Gustavsson Detroit right topJonas Gustavsson arrived in North America already well known as ‘monster’ and his masks, not surprisingly, always had a monster theme. From his Toronto Maple Leafs mask, to his Swedish Olympic Mask or last season’s first in Detroit, a ‘monster hot rod’ mask, they have all represented his nickname in some way. After bringing a car to the mask in 2012-2013, this year, his personal painter Dave Gunnarsson of Davert.com put another decidedly Detroit twist in the design. It comes in the form of a ‘monster trucks covering both sides and the top of the mask. It’s a great look and one that should prove popular with many a young fan and one that will also be appreciated back home in Sweden – the truck is a classic Volvo Amazon, according to Gunnarsson.

Interestingly, the mask comes from an idea Gunnarsson has been sitting on for years – he has painted for Gustavsson since he was a youngster, and also notes,  “I came up with and created this idea back in the 90´s when I was a teenager. I just love to come up with new ideas every day, and I love to draw. I save all my drawings in my huge archive, filled with thousands and thousands of drawings. Now I just finalized my concept drawings :)”

Will this mask drive the Red Wings to the “STANLEY CUP” lets see what will happens. It first has to drive the monster truck and beat out Mr. Howard the present # 1 goalie.

Are you crazy? Gus has been an okay back up goalie and Howard has become one of the top 5 or 6 goalie’s in the league. Gus will play in about 12-15 games all year and Howard will play on the US Olympic team. Gus isn’t taking the Wings anywhere and there is no way he will have a chance to beat Jimmy out as the number 1 goalie even if Gus could stay healthy.
