NHL Saves of Week go outside box
A well executed backside push isn’t likely to make a lot of highlight reels, and the solid, holes-sealed blocking saves count the same as the spectacular stops featured in this week’s NHL.com highlight reel package.
That certainly seemed to be the case in the latest NHL.com Saves of the Week selections, even if some of the goalies are no longer around in the playoffs to add to their personal highlight reels:

Carey Price rarely makes highlight reels because he is so damn good that he rarely places himself in a desperation save situation.
I agree with Hunter 100%. A lot of very good goalies aren’t seen very often in these “highlight saves” reels because they are in perfect position to make the save seem mundane or “boring”. Ever wonder why it seems like opposing teams are “shooting right at Miller or Price’s chest” because they are in front of the puck and eating up time and space. Some goalies are just good at “bloacking” Luongo is very good at this, great positionally……he leaves a lot to be desired in his “do-whatever-it-takes-to-stop-the-puck” hustle to me though. The best goalies: Rinne, Thomas, Miller ect can do both. Have Roy’s technique and skill and Hasek’s unorthodox style combined.
