Performance of the Night – Craig Anderson
Avs Goalie puts on a show in Denver
Colorado’s Craig Anderson is quickly making a name for himself in his first chance at an NHL number 1 role. He has the surprising Avs at the top of the league standings and tonight he really showed why. His save percentage at 0.936 sits second among starters behind only Ryan Miller of the Sabres and third in GAA for starters behind Ilya Bryzgalov – leading another surprising team in Phoenix – and Miller
Tonight Anderson turned aside 48 of 49 Detroit shots en route to a 3-1 victory. Check out the full game report.
Here are a few highlights of his evening’s work – Bertuzzi will be having Anderson nightmares tonight:

Andy was a horse when he played for the Amerks a couple of years ago.
It’s nice that he’s finally getting a shot to be a #1 in The Show.
It’s too bad I hate the Avs being a Wings fan, but Anderson is definately in the hunt for MVP if he keeps this kind of play up. As a goalie at least I can appreciate that he is playing out of his mind right now!
Not to mention Andy played back to back games this weekend. Budaj was supposed to start Friday against the Hurricanes, but has the flu so they called up Weiman. Andy made 36 saves Friday night.
