Shots on Goal: Bruins’ Rask tops Penguins’ Fleury
The Boston Bruins had their third straight game decided in overtime, this one resulting in a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Bruins rookie defenseman Torey Krug was the hero of the night when he unleashed a slapper from the left side past Marc-Andre Fleury just 34 seconds into the extra period.
Pittsburgh trailed early in the contest after Bruins goals from Loui Eriksson and Reilly Smith but rallied to tie it 2-2 when James Neal potted his 5th and 6th tallies of the season in the second and third frames respectively.
Boston big man Zdeno Chara broke the tie midway through the third period with a wrister that deflected off of Sydney Crosby’s stick and fluttered past Fleury to put Boston back on top 3-2.
With time winding down Crosby forced a backhander past Rask with just 0.3 seconds left before the buzzer sounded forcing extra hockey.
Rask finished the game with 28 saves. Fleury stopped 20 shots for Pittsburgh.
