Kevin Bailie of the London Knights was named the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 2 after winning all four of his games while posting an impressive 1.96 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage.
The 20-year-old Belleville, Ontario native made 135 saves to help extend the Knights’ winning streak to 15 straight games. He capped off an impressive week with 36 saves through regulation and overtime before stopping 16 of 19 in a shootout to preserve the longest shootout in Ontario Hockey League history.
Bailie’s impressive week also included 30 saves and Second Star honours in a 3-1 win over Guelph, 39 saves in a 3-1 win over the Kitchener Rangers, and 30 more stops to beat the Eastern Conference-leading Barrie Colts. Playing in his fifth OHL season and first with the Knights after four seasons in Oshawa, finished the week 13-4-0-1 overall and was among the league leaders with a goals-against-average of 2.20 and save percentage of .932.
Also considered for the award were Rimouski rookie Philippe Desrosiers, who was 3-0-0-0 with a 1.67 goals against and .950 save percentage, and Moose Jaw’s Justin Paulic after two wins with a goals-against-average of 1.44 and save percentage of .936.
