Last week we brought you the review of the Warrior Ritual gear in the new InGoal Digital Magazine. In it we outlined some of the key features we enjoyed in this fantastic pad – one we felt really can fit almost any goaltender’s game. For those looking to learn a bit more about the pads, we shot some video showing you the features in detail and giving you a chance to see the pads in action. We may get some more for you about the gloves in the next few weeks – but for now, please check out the key piece in the Ritual Line – the new Pete Smith designed pads.

And if somehow it has escaped your attention – you could be wearing your own custom set of Ritual gear soon – Warrior is giving away three full sets! Register for your chance to win today!  Contest closed – entries no longer being accepted.

Damn you for not adding Norway to that list:(
When will these be released to the public and what would the pricerange be?

    Unreal

My guess is as a hybrid goalie, these pads wouldn’t fit me that well (Vaughn and Reebok are known for being butterfly pad companies), but do you think I could adjust my game to these pads? I hear Smith is an unreal pad architect and I’d like to try the finished product myself.

    • Kris VanWagner says:

Vaughn is not just a butterfly style pad company. The Velocity line works well with hybrids as well. I would venture to guess the Ritual would work for you. If you look in the NHL now, several hybrid type goalies are wearing Ritual gear.

These pads look awesome! I’ve really just starting to change the way I play, largely based on this website. I’m 36, looking to play with guys on average about 25.. I started using ‘box’ pads for the first time this year and started developing my butterfly quite a bit more. I’ve no doubt that these pads would have made my transition so much easier and have no doubt they’d make some of the technical skills so much easier to learn and execute than the PS3s I am using (I do love the PS3s I’ve got but can see the benefits in the design of these warriors.)

Looks like Pete has outdone himself yet again with a functional pad that raises the bar for functionality and comfort. I’m digging the graphics and the toe treatment, as well.
Great review, Kevin and Dave. Very thorough. One area you missed, however, is the inner calf protector. Is it customizable for thickness or shape? I found the flaps on my Smiths to be too straight and thin – not very ergonomic or protective. I beefed them up by inserting some of the extra low-density foam that was provided for the knee lifts under the straps, but they still aren’t as good as the wedges that came standard on my old Koho 500s. Would be curious to know about that aspect of the Rituals…

Incredible feature. Almost felt like Christmas for me just watching it I can’t imagine how much nicer it would be to have lived it.
That was a great breakdown of all the new features and how each feature is supposed to work. I like the new lines on the post. Even if it isn’t exactly as advertised the visual is enough to close out daylight from shooters so you can get a better push to the slot.

  7. Matt says:

I’ve always liked the hybrid pads because for me they’re built to feel like there almost part of you in terms of fit– sort of like wearing a glove. I find the “butterfly” style pads to be way more rigid and uncomfortable and to continue the analogy they fit like mittens in the sense that there’s not as much control. Now that I see these flat faced pads I’d be tempted to give them a try and see how they feel.

  8. Jeff lachmond says:

Was the demo pad Warriors domestic or their import pad. It looks really nice either way. Look out Vaughn there is a new heavy hitter on the block.

  9. Pads featured are domestic.
