My busy weekend of shooting continued this past Sunday when #4 Cornell took on the #16 UNH Wildcats and ended their seven game unbeaten streak with a 5-2 win. The win for the Big Red also snapped their own two game losing streak.

Prior to starting his 17th game of the season for the Wildcats, Brian Foster was named Hockey East Goalie of the Month. (Click on Brian’s name to read more about his latest achievement.)

Foster kept busy all afternoon stopping 38 shots on the day, 18 of which came in the second period. Cornell’s scoring started in the  first period with a goal off the stick of  Blake Gallagher and continued in the second period with Patrick Kennedy finding the back of the net at 12:31. Cornell’s third period scores came from Sean Collins and Riley Nash. The final goal was an empty netter by Joe Scali with 1:59 to go in the game.

The loss drops UNH to (8-7-3)  in overall play and (8-2-2) in Hockey East.

Cornell goalie Ben Scrivens picked up his 8th win of the season (8-4-2), stopping 20 of 22 shots.

UNH  picked up goals from Mike Sislo in the first period and Matt Campanale, his first collegiate goal, in the second period.

Cornell’s win improve their record to (8-4-2) overall and (6-2-1) in the ECAC.
