After two weeks of withdrawals from lack of hockey due to the holidays, I finally got back to shooting this past Saturday night in Manchester.

The Portland Pirates came to town and won the first game of the new year 4-3 in a 10-round overtime shootout, the longest in Monarchs’ history.

Jonathan Bernier got the start for the Monarchs and let in two early first period goals by Pirates forward Nathan Gerbe. Portland added a third goal early in the second period by Mark Mancari who beat Bernier on the glove side.

This was Bernier’s third shootout loss of the season (16-9-3). He stopped 22 of 25 shots in regulation and 8 of 10 in the shootout.

Manchester continues to lead the Atlantic Divion with 50 points (23-11-1-3).

Jhonas Enroth, in net for the Pirates, earned his 11th win of the season (11-11-1) by stopping 23 shots in regulation and 9 out of 10 in the shootout.

Manchester goals were scored by Corey Elkin at 14:47 of the first period, Marc-Andre Cliche at 15:51 of the secord period and Kevin Westgarth at 8:16 of the final period.

Portland’s win brings their record to (17-13-4-2), 6th place in the Atlantic Division with 40 points.

  1. James says:

I like the Revokes with the dark color on the inside and the white on the outside.

Kind of like Enroth’s Sabres gear.
