Panthers’ Goalie Vokoun Slashed by Teammate
This one is all over the web today but as a goalie site we’d be remiss not to publish this highlight lowlight as Florida Goalie Tomas Vokoun is slashed by teammate Keith Ballard after an Ilya Kovalchuk goal. Of course Ballard did not intend to slash Vokoun but his stupid play, connecting full force with a two hander, injured the goalie, sending him to hospital with a laceration on his left ear.
Apparently Vokoun has since told Ballard not to worry about it – but anyone who has ever been in a hockey dressing room knows that his Florida teammates won’t soon let Ballard forget what he did.

Thank goodness Ballard isn’t on my team!
Ditto. I’m letting my guys know tonight before our game if they ever whack me they’re either going to get a pounding or owe me dinner!
What I don’t get is that Ballard persisted since he didn’t break his stick on the first whack, and then after he did finally succeed didn’t notice Vokoun reeling around on the ice and stop to check him out? Obviously he wasn’t totally in his right mind, but then again?!?
