James Reimer Pro-Read: Powerplay high tip vs. Philadelphia

This is our fourth Pro Read featuring current Carolina Hurricanes goalie James Reimer breaking down a play while he was still stopping pucks for the Florida Panthers.

That’s because InGoal was on the ice and in the locker room with Reimer during the offseason, before he’d played a game for the Hurricanes in what is now the longest NHL season ever thanks to the Coronavirus-related pause. While there are plans to review updated footage with him whenever the real offseason finally arrives, we didn’t want to waste any of his insights, so let’s take a look at how he handled traffic and a high tip against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Outside of “please get out of my way, teammate Mike Matheson,” what do you make of this situation and how Reimer plays it? Does anything about his choice of sight line (short side) standout given Konecny is on his forehand? With the more dangerous passing option in the middle instead of the one on the goal line, would you have set up any differently on this?
