TendyFest 2017: Return of Ultimate Goalie Demo Day

Hundreds turned out for TendyFest 2016 and the ultimate goalie demo day promises to be even better this year on May 28, with a bigger, better trade show indoors and close to the ice sessions.

It’s like Christmas in May for goalies as TendyFest returns to Vancouver on May 28.

Re-started by The Hockey Shop goal department last summer after a brief hiatus, the return of the TendyFest, the ultimate goaltender demo day in 2016 drew hundreds of puck stoppers, parents and goalie coaches from all over the lower mainland, and as far away as Calgary and Seattle.

Another happy TendyFest tester

With high-profile guests, high-priced prizes and a chance to test the latest equipment on the ice nobody went home disappointed. It was a great day, and TendyFest 2017 promises to be even better.

We can’t reveal all the special guests coming to Canlan 8 Rinks in Burnaby from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on May 28 just yet, but the impressive list includes names from the NHL and even Sweden. And if the chance to rub elbows and talk trade with NHL goaltenders isn’t your thing, TendyFest 2017 will also feature staff from InGoal Magazine and, perhaps best of all, the return of BHL star Kane Van Gate:

The list of giveaways is equally impressive, highlighted by a set of the new Bauer Vapor 1X OD1N gear that launches on May 19, a professional-level mask from CCM, and lots more.

The list of equipment to test out is even better, which is saying something when you consider last year’s event included pro return pads from Henrik Lundqvist and James Reimer. This year’s lineup includes brand new lines from Bauer, with the Vapor 1X OD1N, and CCM, with the new, lighter, thinner Extreme Flex 3 with its better-sliding Speed Skin, as well as the latest offerings from Brian’s and Vaughn.

The on-ice demo sessions include senior and junior sizes and will be first come, first serve (and remember to bring your own equipment and undergarments) but even if you’re not planning to go on the ice, there will be plenty to do. There is a bigger and better trade show format this year that will be right next to the ice and feature the top brands, mask painters, custom radius demo, goal schools, and more. There will also be pro services reps and top brass from many of the top brands on hand to answer your questions.

Once you find out what gear is best for your game, The Hockey Shop is offering special pricing for all goalies who attend the demo event on all regular priced goalie products and custom orders back at the retail store at 10280 City Parkway Surrey, BC.

Check out the TendyFest Facebook official event page to RSVP and for full details and the full list of demo gear that we’ll have on hand. It’s also a good idea to follow The Hockey Shop’s goalie department on  Instagram and Twitter for additional announcements as we get closer to May 28th, and if you have any questions about the second annual TendyFest, you can email [email protected]
