NHL Saves of the Week: October 19 – 25

NHL Saves of the Week: October 19 – 25

There were plenty of unbelievable saves to choose from around the NHL this week, including two diving paddle stops from Carolina’s Cam Ward and Anaheim’s Frederik Andersen.  For some reason Henrik Lundqvist feels like he needs to make a highlight reel save in every single game that he plays this season. After leading the pack in the first and second weeks of the season, he appears twice on this week’s list.

Although Jonathan Quick’s glove save from Sunday night against Connor McDavid has been contested, it’s a no-brainer for top spot. The refs ruled it a save, correctly or incorrectly, so that’s what we have to go on. Talk about shades of Sebastien Caron, right?

Check out those saves, and the rest of the list in the top ten NHL saves of the week for October 19th to 25th:

#10
Steve Mason – Philadelphia Flyers

Mason2

Steve Mason shows why you never take your eye off the puck!

#9
Pekka Rinne – Nashville Predators

Rinne1

Even the reach of Brian Boyle can’t get around the long legs of Pekka Rinne.

#8
Corey Crawford – Chicago Blackhawks

Crawford1

Jaromir Jagr is off to a great start to the season, but Corey Crawford doesn’t care.

#7
Karri Ramo – Calgary Flames

Ramo1

The week started off with a lot of promise for Ramo, but it wasn’t meant to be.

#6
Jonas Hiller – Calgary Flames

Hiller1

Those backboards can be dangerous! Great push and awareness by Hiller.

#5
Henrik Lundqvist – New York Rangers

Lundqvist1

King Henrik has been the king of desperation saves this year so far.

#4
Cam Ward – Carolina Hurricanes

Ward1

Considering this saved a shutout in the final minutes of the third period, this was a pretty key stop.

#3
Frederik Andersen – Anaheim Ducks

Andersen1

Freddy Andersen isn’t getting much goal support, so he has to make saves like this to make up for it.

#2
Henrik Lundqvist – New York Rangers

Lundqvist1

What a stretch from Lundqvist! His new skates are treating him very well.

#1
Jonathan Quick – Los Angeles Kings

Quick1

Regardless if it was in or not, this was a pretty unbelievable way to win the game.

Great save by Quick but the puck was over the line when he made the save. Should have been a goal.
