Frantz Jean – Owner and Head Goaltending Coach Pro Tek Goaltending

As a Goaltender, Frantz was invited to the 1991 Montréal Canadians training camp (NHL). He was then awarded a hockey scholarship at the Université de Moncton (CIAU) where he played for the Aigles Bleus for 4 ½ season. In 1992-1993 he was named to the Atlantic Universities Athletic Association first All-Star Team and in 1994-1995 the Aigles Bleus won the National Championship.

Frantz has been the Goaltending Coach for the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning since 2010, helping the team reach the 2011 Eastern Conference finals while Dwayne Roloson compiled the 4th best Save Percentage of all goalies in the playoffs. During the 2011-2012 season, the Lightning AHL goalies both broke franchise records for consecutive wins while the team, the Norfolk Admirals, rewrote pro hockey record book with 28 consecutive wins. Admirals goalie, Dustin Tokarski was the 2011-2012 AHL leader with 32 wins amd tied for 2nd place for shutouts (5).

Prior to that he was working in the same role for the Moncton Wildcats of the Québec Major Junior Hockey League for 12 seasons. During that time the Wildcats have been the best defensive team in the league four times, two of his goalies have been named Defensive Player of the year, one as QMJHL MVP, and 5 times the Moncton Wildcats goaltenders have been named to the 1st or 2nd league all-star teams. Eight of his protégés while with the Moncton Wildcats have been drafted or signed as free agents by NHL Teams.

In the Summer of 2009 and 2010, Frantz has been selected to the coaching staff of Hockey Canada’s Under-18 Summer team, winning two gold medals at the Iva Hlinka Memorial Hockey Tournament in Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Since 2002, Frantz has done several Goaltending seminars for the Atlantic Center of Excellence, for Hockey Canada’s Advance Level 2 coaching program and Hockey Canada’s International Coaching Conference. From 2006 to 2010, Frantz was also a member of Hockey Canada’s National Goaltending Consultants Team.
