Pro-Tips: From Carter Hart to Carey Price, Crease Movement Patterns are Key

by | 2 comments

When InGoal went over video of Carter Hart’s pre-period routine with the Philadelphia Flyers goaltender recently, the focus was his signature “jump” at the end, and the role it played in his mental preparations for puck drop. But it was hard not to also notice the efficiency of Hart’s crease movements during these preparations, and since we’d already shot pre-practice footage of some simple skating movements the day before, we asked Hart to review those as well.

Hart didn’t focus on his mechanics, but rather the importance of crease movement patterns for goalies of all ages and skill levels. It’s something we’ve heard before, perhaps not coincidentally from Hart’s boyhood idol, Carey Price of the Montreal Canadiens (more from Price below).
