Eddie Lack Has An Awesome New Swedish Chef Mask

lack_mask2Carolina’s Eddie Lack has become well known for his creative equipment designs, and the 27-year old’s new mask is no exception.

Lack’s Carolina Hurricanes pads were a hit with fans and his new mask, painted by Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt, is sure to raise a smile as it ties in with one of Lack’s other great passions – tacos!

“Eddie Lack’s latest Hurricanes mask design is a continuation of Eddie’s latest tattoo – a tacos tattoo” Gunnarsson wrote on his Facebook page. “Yep, Eddie loves tacos, and on his latest mask his buddy, a certain Swedish Chef, shows up, again, ready to help Eddie make chicken tacos.”

“That chicken on the top needs to run away before the chicken becomes dinner, the chef’s axe looks pretty sharp!”

The Norrtälje, Sweden native’s love of tacos is well documented, with the former Leksands puck stopper even getting a taco tattoo this summer!

The Hurricanes acquired Lack from Vancouver in the summer in exchange for a 3rd round pick in 2015, and a 7th round pick in 2016. The franchise signed Lack to a two-year contract extension in early October.

Lack has endured a difficult start in Raleigh however, going 1-4-1 with a .874 save percentage and 3.29 goals-against average as the Hurricanes sank towards the bottom of the Metropolitan Division.

Partner Cam Ward has faired slightly better, securing seven wins in 18 appearances with a 2.44 goals-against average, but the veteran’s .903 save percentage is also well below the expected level in the NHL today.

31-year old Ward will become an unrestricted free agent next summer, with Lack likely to assume the starting role for Carolina despite his struggles this season.

You can find more of Gunnarsson’s work on his website, Twitter feed, Facebook page and Instagram account. Meanwhile, check out these close ups of Lack’s new mask:
