Henrik Lundqvist Unveils New Rangers Mask
New York Ranger’s #1 Henrik Lundqvist has teamed up with long time design partner Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt to produce another mask featuring the ‘Ranger Razors’ theme.
Entitled ‘Rangers Razors Unleashed’, the new look bares a number of similarities to Lundqvist’s previous design, with the Statue of Liberty featuring heavily once again.
“To paint and create has been my dream job for 20 years.” Gunnarsson wrote on his Facebook Page. “I am so thankful to paint for awesome goalies all over the world.
“‘The Rangers Razors’ are unleashed in a totally wild way on this mask. They creates a bold design with insane Rangers contrasts. I love to always try to think outside the box and always move forward with new ideas every day.”
“It all creates a mask that is 100% New York, 100% Rangers, 100% Lundqvist”
The 33-year old has been an ever present for the Rangers again this season, starting 34 of the clubs 42 games so far, posting a 19-11-4 record with a .920 save percentage and 2.49 goals-against average.
The veteran puck stoppers early season form helped the Rangers climb to the top of the standings, but many predicted a dip was coming once Lundqvist hot streak ended and the teams unusually high shooting percentage tailed off – and whilst the club remains second in the Metropolitan Division, they now trail leader Washington by a whopping 16 points while New Jersey and Pittsburgh – who both currently sit outside of the playoffs – within 5 points of Alain Vigneault’s side, who are 4-5-1 in their last ten.
The Rangers begin a three game road trip on Thursday when they take on arch rivals the New York Islanders in Brooklyn before taking on Philadelphia and Washington in back-to-back games at the weekend.
