Grim Reaper, Bible Verse on Subban Bruins Mask

Grim Reaper, Bible Verse on Subban Bruins Mask

Malcolm Subban has a new Boston Bruins mask, but the Grim Reaper and Bible verse remain.

Subban, who is playing his first professional season with the AHL Providence Bruins after being picked 24th by Boston in last summer’s NHL Draft, maintains the Angel of Death theme from his last junior mask.

Painted by Toronto-based artist David Arrigo, Subban also kept a bible verse on his new mask.

This time, however, rather than having it written out in it’s entirety as he did with Psalm 23:4 (“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil …) on the backplate of his last mask, Subban had the verse represented on the playing card held out by the Reaper: “James 1.”

The Bruins are also well represented on the new mask, with an aggressive bear roaring on the left side, and the spoked “B” worked brilliantly into Subban’s name along the chin.

Enjoy the close-up photos below, courtesy of Arrigo, and be sure to visit his website, his Facebook page and follow him on Twitter for more great mask photos, as well as all kinds of other sports-related artwork:

I guess now I know the definition of scaring your opponent with that mask I would be afraid to shoot. It also shows that the AHL is the spot where our future goalies will be coming from. The art work is fantastic.
Don’t forget block that goal and make that save.
