Holtby Keeps It Simple With New Caps Mask

Holtby Keeps It Simple With New Caps Mask

Washington’s Braden Holtby looks to be going with a cleaner, classic look this upcoming season.

The 25-year old, who signed a 5-year, $30.5 million deal with the Capitals in July, again teamed up with David Gunnarsson of DaveArt to produce the new design.

“This new creation follows in the same lines as his previous designs with the old school touch, all based on the awesome Capitals logos.” Gunnarsson said on his Facebook page. “The white base of the mask makes it very clear and even more old school.”

“The design is created in a new way, in a mix of old school vintage effects mixed with top modern 3D effects. I love the challenge to come up with new ideas every day of the year. Every new mask is totally unique.” Gunnarsson continued. “The closer you come to the mask the more details you will discover, and when you are really close the mask transforms into a storyteller design.”

From distance, the Capitals’ red and blue stars are clearly visible, with the clubs current logo emblazoned along each side. Get a little closer and the old Capitol Building logo is visible just above each ear vent.

Holtby’s #70 can be seen on the chin, while the Lloydminster, Saskatchewan native has gone for a plain white back plate.

It is undoubtedly a simpler design than many netminders opt for, but this classic, team orientated style certainly has its fans.
