Giguere to Debut New Colorado Avalanche Mask

InGoal is pleased to present the exclusive first images of J-S Giguere’s new Colorado Avalanche mask, courtesy of artist Sylvie Poitras of Airbrushzap.com.
Poitras, who also paints for Mathieu Garon of the Tampa Bay Lightning and is the painter behind Martin Brodeur’s iconic New Jersey Devils mask, described the inspiration behind Giguere’s mask to InGoal:
“On the right side you have a ”chercheur d’or” – gold prospector. You might imagine him with one of his teeth made of gold, but we decided to give him that tooth in the Avalanche’s burgundy. You’ll also see the repeating “Colorado” lettering and a bold 1876, the year Colorado became a state.”
Keep reading between the photos below for more details from Poitras on Giguere’s new design, which you may also note bears the CCM logo as one designed by Michel Lefevre. InGoal got a first look at the soon-to-be released retail version of the new mask, which is also being worn by Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Bernier, while visiting the Lefevre factory back in September.
“On the left side, as on so many Avalanche masks, we have included the Yeti.”
“The top of the mask features a large Avs logo toward the from with crumbling ice block ‘Avalanche’ lettering towards the back. On the chin we have Giggy’s number 35 overlaid on the Avs alternate logo – the Yeti footprint.”
