Lundqvist Unveils Sparkling New Mask

Henrik Lundqvist has teamed up with Dave Gunnarsson of DaveArt to produce a sparkling new mask design.

The veteran Swede has worked with Gunnarsson for almost two decades now, producing some striking designs including the Jeff Gordon mask he wore last season.

“Henrik and I have been working together for more than 18 years, it is always so exciting to create and paint a new artwork for Henrik” Gunnarsson said on his Facebook page. “This new piece is created in New York Rangers vintage colors, and the closer you come to the mask the more details you will discover and the mask enters a new dimension and becomes a storyteller mask.”

With it’s jagged edges, team logos and image of the Statue of Liberty, there’s something unquestionably ‘Rangers’ about the Lundqvist’s new design.

The 33-year old has gone 4-2-o in eight starts with New York this season, posting a 1.98 goals-against average and .941 save percentage as the Rangers have risen to the top of the Metropolitan Division again.

You can find more of Gunnarsson’s great work on his website, Twitter feed, Facebook page and Instagram account. Meanwhile, check out these close ups of Lundqvist’s new mask:
