Pekka Rinne’s Honkey Tonk Mask

From a raging monster trying to break out from behind and old school face mask, Dave Gunnarsson of Daveart.com has made a complete change in his latest mask for Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne. This new design which pays tribute to the musical roots of Nashville is much lighter in tone but no less impressive in execution. St. Louis goalies have had musical overtones in their masks for years in tribute to the Blues, but the importance of music to Nashville can never be overstated.
Dave, and we assume Pekka, are both proud of the Royal connection to this helmet as well – how many goaltenders in NHL history can say a member of a royal family had a hand in painting their mask? The Swedish Crown Princess Victoria helped Gunnarsson apply some of the paint while touring Davve’s shop.
Gunnarsson on the design:
Pekka wanted to celebrate the local HonkyTonk Nashville music and Nashville as a city on the mask. I created a completely new and unique design idea for the mask, and Pekka really liked it.
Around the mask notes are played along classic note lines, this ties the design together and the design is built out from it. The HonkyTonk theme continues on the chin with a sculpture of a double bass flanked by piano keys that create cool speed-filled graphics. The upper part is a tribute to Nashville as a city with its skyline. Of course you can spot some famous buildings, like the BellSouth Building and the arena’s tower.
Reminds me of Grant Fuhr’s and Cujo’s St. Louis Blues masks from back in the day
It does indeed!
Very Nice! I agree with Paul.
gotta love the “Batman building” on the right side of the mask
WOW!!!! Another masterpiece by Dave! He makes Pekka’s helmets look sick! I would love to have one painted just like that to display in my sports room…
Swedish Crown Princess painted that helmet a little bit too ;D

The mask is very neat, but still i think the mask that Rinne used last season is the best i’ve ever seen..
