Rinne’s New Mad Mask Fury Channels Mad Max
Pekka Rinne has another scary new look for next season.
The Nashville Predators star stopper has always worn aggressive, intimidating designs, from his original Predator-themed mask to a Gladiator-inspired paint job last season. His latest from Swedish artist David Gunnarsson of DaveArt follows that menacing tradition perfectly.
Titled “Fury Hockey Mad Mask” by Gunnarsson, Rinne’s new mask for the upcoming 2015-16 season is based on the Immortan Joe character‘s mask from this summer’s blockbuster movie, Mad Max Fury Road. But Gunnarsson also manages to incorporate the Predator behind the mask.
It’s as scary as any design Rinne has worn to date, and the effects don’t get any less disturbing when you turn out the lights, thanks to Gunnarsson’s use of glow-in-the-dark GLOW Tech FX 2.0 on the eyes and teeth.
“It is more FURY than ever,” Gunnarsson wrote on his Facebook page. “The mask is a nightmare for anyone who dare to come close! .. Behind the badass mask with tubes and horses teeth you will find the Predator monster. And the dude seems to brush his teeth in nuclear pasta because they are glowing in the dark.”
Gunnarson promises more projects with Rinne this season, so be sure to keep checking his website, Twitter feed, and Instagram. In the meantime enjoy some of these close ups of the scary new Mad Max mask below:
