Rob Madore’s Vermont Catamounts Mask

Rob Madore’s Vermont Catamounts Mask

After bringing you Malcom Subban’s Belleville Bulls mask recently, we’re stepping outside the NHL arena once again, this time to bring you an NCAA mask. Montreal’s David Leroux saw his artwork hit the NHL ice last season for the first time. His Cedrick Desjardins’ Tampa Bay Lightning lid was one of the finest we saw last year and Ray Emery made his remarkable return to the game’s top league sporting a fantastic Leroux Sugar Ray Leonard tribute.

One of Leroux’s finest works will be seen this year in the NCAA with Rob Madore of the Vermont Catamounts. Madore, a native of Pittsburgh, was the subject of an InGoal interview last season and this fall is heading into his fourth campaign with the Catamounts, last season putting up a 2.98 GAA and a .908 save percentage. You can learn all about Rob’s career on the University of Vermont athletics website.

The mask is a tribute to former Vermont greats…of course led by Stanley Cup Champion Tim Thomas ’97, as well as Dave Reece ’71 and Chris Soucy ’93.

The names in the background are:
KREINER, REECE, YEATES, WRIGHT, COOKE, MacKINNON, CASTLE, MURPHY, O’CONNELL, COTE, HOMOLA, McCASKILL, FOSTER, McDONOUGH, SOUCY, MILLER, ST. LOUIS, THOMAS, PERRIN, STALBERG

About The Author

David Hutchison

David is one of the founders of InGoal Magazine which he began in 2009. Of course he finds time for some goaltending of his own as well, and despite his age, clings desperately to the idea that some NHL team will call him to play for them - though in his mid-forties (OK, late 40s) it'll likely be for a practice when everyone else on their depth chart has the flu and the shooter tutor has gone in for repairs.

In addition to being a great goalie, Rob is a very nice young man as well. My son still talks about how nice he was during Shane Clifford’s goalie camp last year, and he missed Rob not being there this year.
