Leroux Caps Goalie Mask

InGoal has always be proud to bring you masks by David Leroux of Montreal. His design and detail work is amongst the best in the game. Leroux is the man responsible for Ray Emery’s Anaheim Ducks mask which has received a great deal of attention recently.

David sent along these photos of a Caps themed mask he created for an anonymous private collector. David creates about 10 masks a year for various people who don’t play goal themselves but love the artwork in their homes and offices. Notice that the mask, created by Dom Malerba at Pro’s Choice is missing the vent holes on top and is slightly larger than a game-worn helmet to give Leroux the best surface possible for creating his work.

David told InGoal a little about the design:

He [the collector] asked for the famous Lincoln Memorial with a portrait over it and on the other side he asked for the Washington River Crossing to represent team work along with the American classic eagle. The rest was freestyle creating. Because of the shape of the mask I decided to go with a big Capitals logo on the forehead and the bird logo on the chin. The cage is not the right one because I was only sent the shell to paint.

About The Author

David Hutchison

David is one of the founders of InGoal Magazine which he began in 2009. Of course he finds time for some goaltending of his own as well, and despite his age, clings desperately to the idea that some NHL team will call him to play for them - though in his mid-forties (OK, late 40s) it'll likely be for a practice when everyone else on their depth chart has the flu and the shooter tutor has gone in for repairs.

Oh man, the luxury of a customized helmet!

I’d get one with sailor tattoos of sweet-lookin ladies 😉

  2. alfredo

where are the screws to the helmet, just for show?

    • David Hutchison

Just for show in this case as it is not the cage that will end up on the helmet…the painter was sent only the shell and used a cage of his own for the photos
